Scrappy Saturday Is Back! from Life in the Scrapatch

Today I did some scrappy sewing in my happy place again.

It feels good to be back.

I am working again on my ...

Scrappy Irish Chain & Dresden Plate Quilt

This was the quilt I was working on when I had to move my sewing machine

and pack up all my fabric, projects, supplies and tools and such

so we could begin work on the room renovations in my dining room sewing corner.

I really love these fabrics and this pattern.

This is a free pattern and all the info may be found in the link below:

Friday Finish and a Pillow Form Tutorial from Podunk Pretties

Hello Quilty Friends!  Todays Friday Finish is a Flag Block designed by Cory Yoder of Coriander Quilts.  To make this block into a pillow I added a 12.5 x 3.5 to each side of the block and then a 18.5 x 3.5 to the top and bottom.  The finished pillow top was then made into a quilt sandwich and quilted using a 2 inch crosshatching.  The back is an envelope closure so the pillow form can be removed.    The red stripe binding gives the pillow a little extra pop of color and movement.

I love how ...

Scrappy Saturday Sewing ~ More Scrappy Irish Chain from Life in the Scrapatch

Today was a good day of scrappy sewing.

All 12 of my Block Bs are done!

Yesterday and today I made good progress on my

Scrappy Irish Chain Scrap Along @ Coriander Quilts

Although I love all the random scrappy quilts that I am seeing in the

Coriander Quilts Group on FB

I decided to go with my third plan for the A Block Layout

which I posted last week in this post:

Second & Third Scrappy Thoughts.

I really like the controlled scrappy look for this quilt.

This is my first of revised Block A.

I will need to make 12 ...

Scrappy Saturday Sewing from Life in the Scrapatch

My plan for Saturday is to stay warm and sew scrappy.

My quilty corner of the world is under the bitter polar vortex

that is sweeping through the northeastern USA and eastern Canada.

Temperatures here dipped to -14 degrees F ( -25C)

with a wind chill to -40 degrees F.

We are all safe and snug in our little house.

These are the fabrics that I have cut for my blocks.

This is my layout for my Block B.
I need to make a total of 12 blocks for the

So I am chain piecing ...

Back to Sewing ~ Block 1 from Life in the Scrapatch

My first block is done for my

Scrappy Irish Chain Scrap Along Quilt

This scrappy goodness is being hosted by Corey Yoder.

This is Block A ~1 of 13

Here are her inctructions

Scrappy Irish Chain Scrap Along ~ Part 2 ~ Block Piecing

This is a very big and busy block made of 9 rows of 2.5" squares.

I need to make one of the Block B next so I can see how my fabrics and colors are working.  Right now I cannot see the pattern.  The large neutral background center in the alternate block is really needed as a ...

I Like Thursday #123 ~ Celebrating Mistakes from Life in the Scrapatch

And Then There Were Three

I have three of this little blocks done for the

The Neighborhood ~ Free Downloadable Here

There is a free Embroidery Stitch Booklet on the other stuff page

@ Crabapple Hill Studio

to help with learning the stitches.

I discovered that I have been doing a common stitch

in a "different way" all these years.

This stitching is very small and my eyes can only manage about one a day

and my stitching is my stitching.

The sketched image is less than 2" by 3."

I could have enlarged them but I like the challenge of the ...

My favorite 2020 quilt finish from Professional Quilter

Like many quilters, I love to make quilts for family members. The latest to receive a quilt is my niece Abby.

Abby is my youngest niece and she lives outside Chicago. She is also a college freshman and her quilt is going to college.

My other two nieces grew up five miles from me. I was blessed that they spent hours at my home being creative. They started sewing early on. If you search back through the blog, you’ll find photos of the work they did, from scrunchies to quilts.

When I started Abby’s quilt, I knew I ...

We’re back in the studio with Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts to learn how she hand quilts! Corey grew up helping her mother and grandmother hand quilt their quilts since she was four years old. Corey uses a Big Stitch Hand Quilting technique designed to quilt easily and make a statement at the same time. We have a video tutorial so you can quilt right along with us!

For the pillow, all you’ll need is a 12” pillow form, a mini charm pack, an 8.5” square of fabric for the center, 1⁄2 yard of fabric for ...

How to Quilt Using Woven Fabric with Corey Yoder from Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber

We’re in the studio with Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts to learn how she quilts using woven fabric! We love these soft wovens for their lovely texture and soft drape. If you’re not familiar with wovens, these are the same soft material used for those lovely vintage tea towels.  Corey shares her tips for starching, washing and sewing with woven cotton fabrics for quilts that you will always want to cozy up to.

The Difference Between Woven Fabric and Printed Fabric

Wovens are a substrate made from 100% cotton that has a looser weave than traditional quilting cottons ...
